Robin Williams - A great soul lost.

Robin Williams (1951 - 2014)

At first I sat back in disbelief wondering if this was just another horrible Facebook hoax and that I will click on the link and great fully read "Got you".  This feeling of sadness and sympathy comes after reading that Robin Williams has passed from apparent suicide.

I've got great memories over the years of his work as it usually meant sitting with family in tears from laughing so hard or from sadness. Robin to me was one of the greats and could have you doing both in the matter of seconds. Although he had much earlier work, one of my favorite movies is "GOOD MORNING VIETNAM", and yes if your
wondering,  I just did my best Williams impression but like the saying goes, "often imitated,  never duplicated".

It saddens me as to why he is gone and proves that there is not enough support being pushed for mental health today. Especially in such a stressful environment as being in the public eye 24/7. He struggled multiple times with addictions, most recently admitting himself in June. Our mental health is such a fragile thing and so much easier to tear apart than build up. He was one of the great ones and will be deeply missed by many.

ABCNews quotes Robin's wide saying; "This morning, "I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken," his wife said in a statement. "On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

I leave you both with the thoughts you have of laughter that Robin made you feel both as a child and an adult. On a major note that should not be taken lightly from this, "please seek help if you are suffering from mental health issues and addiction!" There is no such thing as being too late for help until you have made the ultimate and wrong choice of giving up on yourself.

# End the silence a Twitter chat that focuses on all Mental health issues returns in September. If you are on twitter follow @CantonCathy and myself @Tullyman77 for details,  until then I always offer support any way I can.

  2. I absolutely love Robin Williams, Good Morning Vietnam was an amazing movie and he was stellar.
Again someone who appears to have it all to others, struggled personally. All I can say is support is huge, both asking and offering.
