Months now I've listened to my daughter take spells where she screams and cries due to pain from her private area. It's an odd situation as it only happens at bed time and if she can get to sleep we hear no more of it until the next episode and she is fine during the day. It can sometimes happen every night for a week, or once every couple. We have taken her to her family doctor and have had tests run, X-rays done and in the process other doctors seen.
The first diagnosis, she must have a bladder or yeast infection. Now, I've grown up with a sister and I'm sure I've heard mentioning of her going through these and have never heard her in this kind of pain. Then comes the visit to the after hours clinic where we are told she is most likely constipated so let's give her a round of foods to soften her stool... I was pretty certain this wasn't the case as she seems to be going ok. Another trip to the family doctor now with a request to have an abdominal X-ray in which it has been over a month so as usual like any doctor no news is good news right?
I'm worried to say the least, my wife sits with her as my daughter of course is not comfortable due to the circumstances with me being there. It's a good thing as I can honestly say she is stronger than me in that respect. I don't want this to come across as she cares any less than I do as that is indeed not the case. It hurts us deeply that we are not able to comfort her. We do what we can but in the end it's not much as we don't know what is causing it. It's hard to watch your child helpless and in pain only to not get a proper diagnosis multiple times from your family doctor. We are again going to make another appointment but at this moment I don't know really what to do.
